Thurrock CVS hosts Christmas Meal to thank volunteers

Volunteers of Thurrock CVS projects and Thurrock Community hubs were gathered together for a festive lunch organised by TCVS staff.  The afternoon celebration was filled with festive treats to thank volunteers for their hard efforts and donated time throughout the year within the different projects of Thurrock CVS and Community hubs. Volunteers enjoyed tucking into a hot and cold Christmas buffet along with a staff comedy video, music and a Christmas quiz.   Staff from Thurrock Council and the Community hubs also attended to lend a helping hand to thank their volunteers, alongside the Mayor of Thurrock who closed the afternoon with a speech of thanks.  TCVS would like to especially thank South Essex College for donating their time to cook our hot refreshments in their Waves kitchen free of charge, kindly organised by Graeme Collie. A big thank you also to IKEA Thurrock, who support Giving for Thurrock regularly and donated brilliant decorations and tableware to brighten our hall for the event.   A volunteer who attended the event said “Volunteering has given me my confidence back, I’ve learnt new skills along the way and met some brilliant friends, I just love helping people and it’s such a warm feeling to know an hour of my time can make such a difference to others!”   Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things that you can do and it is often the smallest contribution that makes the biggest difference.
