Thurrock Council believe investment in infrastructure for the benefit of residents and local businesses is key. Good roads, health services, schools and leisure facilities are all required to enable people to live and work, play and stay in the borough. Under the banner People, Place, Prosperity, the council is creating a place where people and businesses want to stay and thrive, and developers and investors want to invest.
Thurrock is currently undergoing one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe, making it a magnet for growth and investment. £20 billion worth of investment is planned for homes, jobs and infrastructure, including £6 billion being invested in private sector jobs. £100 million is also set aside be invested in Thurrock’s schools.
Thurrock is working towards a future where every resident has a job with 24,500 new jobs planned for the next 20 years. In addition, there will be four Integrated Medical Centres opened in the borough. This is just one of a series of game-changing initiatives being delivered with the council’s health and well-being partners.
The development happening over the next ten years will ensure Thurrock’s success for years to come, and will establish Thurrock as a place of opportunity, enterprise and excellence, where individuals, communities and businesses flourish.
The development is due to take place across 6 growth hubs, with each hub being crucial to the economy of the borough. Development will take place across a vital range of areas making sure the new growth benefits Thurrock in its entirety.
Projects vary from the modernisation of historic towns, such as Tilbury, Purfleet and Grays, to exciting developments such as the Thames Enterprise Park, which will provide a base for ground-breaking businesses to expand and innovate.
