Better Care Together Thurrock (BCTT) is a transformation programme that has been delivering change across health and care services in Thurrock, supported by a shared vision and track record of successful implementation. The programme is led by a “whole system” approach covering primary care, community healthcare, social care, the community and the individual in promoting well-being. The programme is holistic, strengths based and person centric, building upon an analysis within the Case for Change written in 2017 by The Director of Public Health. Consistency in system leadership and collaboration sit at the heart of the programme; as shown by our strong partnership with the Voluntary and Community Sector and commitment to co-design and delivery with our communities.
We’ve had significant recognition for our work over the years and this year, this is reflected in the BCTT partnership being shortlisted as a finalist for the Health Services Journal awards – which takes place on Friday 4th September. Obviously, this prestigious event will have a slightly different feel this year so finalists will be joining the event by video link.
Category: System or Commissioner Led Service Redesign Initiative
Announcement for this category starts: 3pm on 4th Sept.

Whilst the recognition gained through awards is evidence of our success, real evidence is the solid partnership relationships we have built across health, social care, and with the voluntary and community sector. The longevity and strength of this relationship is one of, if not the key, contributory factor to our success. We’ve seen how important our strong relationship is over recent months, by the way Thurrock partnership has been able to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are wishing BCTT lots of luck for Friday’s awards.
