Here at Thurrock CVS we strive to keep you updated with the latest local and national grant information, so we were delighted to hear of Thurrock Swimming clubs grant success following grant news they had sourced from our weekly bulletin.

Thurrock Swimming Club received a grant from Active Essex to help reopen the teaching pool in Blackshots and encourage young swimmers back into the sport. The club plans to recruit over 65 new swimmers aged 5-10years of age teaching them how to swim and giving them the opportunity to develop and progress through the learn to swim programme.
Due to the pandemic the pool has been closed and many people from all backgrounds have been unable to access lessons. This has resulted in inactivity, poor health, reduced fitness and mental stress for the swimmers and their families. This will help their mental and physical wellbeing and provide each swimmer with life saving skills, self esteem, confidence and wellbeing.
The Club commented, “Thurrock Swimming Club is a one stop shop; we teach and coach swimmers, bring families together, support the community, offer employment opportunities and provide long term skills and knowledge for all of our members.
“With the support of Active Essex, this project will further support the community and provide all ages and sector the opportunity to learn, enjoy and be an active member of Thurrock.”
