News from purfleet-on-thames community picnic

Our Community Builder, Kim worked in partnership with Peabody Trust to organise, promote and deliver Purfleet-on-Thames Community Picnic on 31st August.

The focus being to reconnect residents, neighbours, community groups and service providers after lockdown.

  • On the day 18 community organisations, trusts, statutory partners and local businesses supported and/or took part in the event.
  • 2000 leaflets were delivered through letterboxes, posters and leaflets displayed in shops, train station, church, foodbank, pubs, notice boards etc.
  • 60 free children’s lunch bags were prepared and items kindly donated by The Fleet pub, Heavenly Greens, and Peabody.
  • Money was raised for the Purfleet-on-Thames Christmas Lights via a Tombola stall.

Between 150-200 residents came along to the event where they were able to speak directly to local services, pick up information, advice and support, air their concerns, join in activities and taster sessions and enjoy a picnic on the green. Stallholders/Service providers welcomed the opportunity to network and build contacts on the day.

The children’s activities were particularly popular as was the tombola stall!

A short feedback survey was conducted with residents, this information will be collated and circulated with stakeholders who will also be asked to complete a short survey.
