Small Sparks and Thurrock Community Fund

Small Sparks

Communities are more resilient and stronger when people know each other and do things together. Small Sparks is a local Thurrock fund that can give life to an idea or project enabling community activity and involvement. This could be starting a new club, holding a community event or improving your local neighbourhood. The most important factor is that the activity must foster community engagement and involve a group of local people.

Applications can be made up to the value of £250 and must be match funded. The match funding can be met by demonstrating other people will invest their time, goods, equipment and/or expertise that equates to or exceeds the funding requested.

The Small Sparks fund is a rolling programme and the panel aims to meet monthly to consider applications. To be eligible for funding the project / idea must meet all the following:

  • Involve other community members / neighbours in creating and completing the project
  • Match the amount requested by
  • Encourage community engagement and be inclusive
  • Submit a breakdown of costs and take reasonable steps to obtain competitive prices for any activity of items
  • Be a new project / idea and not something that would require ongoing funding
  • Agree to keep a record of the event or activity by way of photos, video or scrapbook to share with the wider community and encourage others to apply
