Over the past few weeks, Thurrock Volunteer Centre has been delighted to visit Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC) at the Old Courthouse on several occasions, connecting with learners and showcasing the many opportunities volunteering can offer.
The first visit saw Thurrock Volunteer Coordinator, Eden, join a SEND learners’ class as a guest speaker. The session introduced the work of Thurrock Volunteer Centre, explained how the service supports local volunteers, and highlighted the resources available at The Beehive Centre. Learners also had the chance to ask questions about volunteering, explore the benefits it can bring, and discuss any barriers they might face.
Eden later returned to support the same group as they registered with Thurrock Volunteer Centre. The session helped learners understand the registration process, complete their applications with confidence, and learn what to expect as they begin their volunteering journey.
Reflecting on the experience, Eden said: “What a truly wonderful group of people – it was an absolute pleasure! I’m astounded by their desire to give back and their eagerness to learn. They should all be so proud of themselves!”
Most recently, Thurrock Volunteer Centre attended TACC’s Careers and Volunteering Marketplace event. Throughout the day, Eden welcomed learners from across the college to the Volunteer Centre stand, enjoyed inspiring conversations about the impact of volunteering, and met many people keen to find out how they can get involved in supporting their local community.
