On Tuesday 14th September BATIAS held their AGM which was attended by 30 clients and volunteers.

Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, attended to give a presentation of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service certificate and crystal award as well as badges for the BATIAS volunteers.

This is a national award which has been presented annually since 2002 in recognition of the outstanding work performed by volunteers.  It is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups. The Voluntary groups which receive this honour have to meet extremely high standards, for BATIAS it is presented as recognition of our work, supporting people with learning disabilities to be heard, inspiring positive change to their lives.
