Steward Volunteer Opportunity for The Afro Food Festival
The Afro Food Festival will be a celebration of Afro-Caribbean food, music and culture in Thurrock.
Volunteers will be needed for the following: Litter picking Stewarding (stage area, main park, park entrances, children’s play area) Leaflet distribution Evaluation Engagement.
Alzheimer’s Society Volunteer Opportunity
Thurrock Alzheimer’s Society Team are looking at setting up a peer support / activities group for people affected by dementia. They’re looking for volunteers to support with general tasks. These may include helping people to engage or making teas and coffees. The group will be a time limited group, first running in Corringham for 6 weeks and then moving to Grays for a 6-week session. This group will move around Thurrock to support people in all areas.

Volunteer with Essex Wildlife Trust
Volunteer work parties are held at Chafford Gorges Nature Park every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and the first Sunday of the month. Work parties are from 9:30am – 3pm.
Jobs will include practical work to manage the nature park including planting, felling and working with trees, grassland management tasks, working with volunteer work parties and contractors. Also, we are constantly on the lookout for ad hoc wildlife sightings. Joining a volunteer work party is guaranteed to be interesting and varied work and is a good opportunity to meet likeminded people and enjoy being outdoors whilst helping wildlife.

Support Group Facilitator with Reach Out for Mental Health
Reach Out for Mental Health run 3 successful Coffee Afternoons, they cater to clients experiencing mental health issues, suicidal thoughts and who may feel isolated and lacking support. The Groups offer Peer Support and a friendly, un-judgemental, safe space for people to talk, and listen, about their lives.

When a cruise ship comes in we will set up a pop up shop in a specific area for crew only, serving them with Confectionary, toiletries, soft drinks crisps and snacks. Online Reading Volunteer
Doorstep Library Reading Volunteers visit the same families online over Zoom, every week with a range of books to share their love of reading with the children they visit. Our volunteers don’t just read stories though; they do silly voices, handpick the books, and give special recommendations for each child.
