Thurrock Swimming Club compete in the Regional Championships.
Week 1 – Joshua Shepherd had a great weekend finishing 1st in the 50 back, 100 fly & 200 fly. In the 100 free, Josh finished 6th and 3rd in the 50 free. Henry Dean swam a great 100 fly finishing 1st in the regional final and just outside of his PB in the 50 free. Nikita Charykin finished 1st in the 200 back and swam a season’s best finishing 6th in the 100 fly. James McGettigan finished 2nd in the 200 breast 4th in the 100 breast and achieved a best time in the 100 fly. Ivan Ijomoni swam a 30 sec PB in the 800 free finishing 7th overall. Danny Thompson swam a good 800 finishing just outside of his best finishing 7th. In the 400IM, Danny achieved a personal best time and was just outside of his best in the 200 back and 400 free. Louise Webster swam well in the 200 fly final finishing 7th and just outside of her best in the 100 fly. Ben Minister swam a very good race in the 400IM finishing 5th and th in the 200 back final. Nicholas Mitroi swam well in the 800 free. Tobi Olajide swam well in the 100 fly and set a PB in the 50 free & 200 fly. Kevin Moghina swam a strong 100 freestyle and set a PB in the 50 free. Freddie Gardner made his first regional final finishing 7th in the 50 back with a PB and a string 100 free and another best time in the 50 free. Ethan Martin swam very well in the 50 free finishing 6th in the final and just outside of his best in the 100 free and 50 back. Jeremey Godwin swam just outside of his best in the 100 breast. Ayobami Akindele achieved a personal best time in the 50 free & 100 breast. Ademola Ashowole swam to a best time in the 50 free.
In the 17+ mens freestyle relay, Ethan Martin, Henry Dean, Freddie Gardner and Nikita Charykin finished 3rd overall. In the medley relay, Ben Minister replaced Ethan and the team finished in 3rd place again with some great splits. In the 14-16 age group, Kevin Moghina, Ademola Oshowole, James McGettigan and Joshua Shepherd finished 6th in the region. In the medley team, Tobi Olajide replaced Ademola and finished 7 overall.
Week 2 – Joshua Shepherd finished his championships off with a 1st in the 50 fly and 3rd in the 100 back – both best times. Henry Dean finished 3rd in the 50 fly final just outside of his best. Nikita Charykin finished 2nd in the 100 back with a best time and 3rd in the 200IM. James McGettigan swam a good 200IM finishing 3rd in the final, 5th in the 50 breast and 7th in the 50 fly final. Ben Minister achieved a best time in the 200 medley just missing out on the final and was just outside his best in the 100 back. Zak Walker was in amazing form finishing 2nd in the 50 breast and 100 fly and 4th in the 200 free. All huge PBs and just missing out on 1st place in all events. Ivan Ijomoni swam a great 1500 finishing 2nd with a huge PB. Ivan achieved another best time in the 200 IM finishing 7th in the finals and set a best time to make the 100 fly finial finishing 5th overall. Nicholas Mitroi also swam a brilliant 1500 finishing 8th overall and another huge best time in the 200 free. Danny Thompson finished 8th overall in the 1500 free. Freddie Gardner achieved a best time in the 100 back and just outside in the 50 fly. Elise Delapperall swam a great 50 fly achieving a huge PB. Ethan Martin completed in the 100 back and 50 fly but outside of his best times. Ayobami Akindele finished 6th in the final of the 50 breast and competed in the 50 fly. Jeremey Godwin swam just outside of his best in the 50 breast. Ose Ojiekhudu competed in the 50 fly and swam just outside of his best. Isabella Da Silva swum just outside of her best time in the 200 free. Kai Patel finished 5th in the 50 breast in a personal best time and was just outside of his best in the 200 IM. Will Minister set a huge PB in the 200 IM finishing 6th in the final. Lilly Franks swam a fantastic 100 fly just missing out on the final as did Riley Allen in the same event. Both set huge personal best times. Tyree Tudor was slightly outside of his best in the 100 fly. Isla Cotter achieved a best time in the 50 breast as di Arianna Tverijonas in the 200IM.
After the 2nd weekend, Thurrock were 6th in the medal table in the East Region
Week 3 – Zak Walker achieved a huge, best time in the 200 fly and 200 breast finishing 2nd in all three events 2nd in the 100 breast and 4th overall in the 50 fly with another best time. Zak also finished 6th in the final of the 100 free. Kai Patel finished 3rd in the 200 breast with another huge personal best time and 4th in the 100 breast with yet another PB. He also equalled his PB in the 100 back. Ivan Ijomoni achieved a huge best time in the 200 fly finishing 3rd in the final and equalled his best in the 400IM finishing 3rd overall. He also finished 7th in the 50 free final and set a best time in the 50 fly and 200 back. Lily Franks swam well in the 200 fly final finishing 6th and a best time in the 400IM. Riley Allen swam well in the 200 fly finishing 8th in the final with a best time. Riley also competed in the 400IM finishing 9th overall and swam a great 50 fly in a personal best time. Will Minister achieved a huge PB in the 400IM finishing 7th overall and PBs in the 50 fly and 100 back. Will also achieved a massive PB in the 200 back finishing 6th in the final Esme Parkes achieved a fantastic time in the 200fly – her first regional championships. Isla Cotter also swam a very good 50 breast, 200 breast and 200 fly with PB’s in all events. Isabella DaSilva achieved a massive PB in the 400Free a PB in the 50 free, equalled her 100 free time and also competed in the 50 & 200 fly. Danraj Dhillon equalled his best in the 50 freestyle. Arianna Tverijonas swam well in the 50 and 100 free achieving best times in both events. Tyree Tudor competed in the 200 fly event. Lucas Ward achieved a PB in the 200 back and competed in the 400 free. Adam Thompson achieved a best time in the 400 free and also competed in the 100 free. Nichola Mitroi swam brilliantly in the 400 free and achieved another best time in the 200 back. He also competed in the 100 free.
