The beginning of November saw the Volunteer Centre Thurrock, begin a new connection with Employability support at the Salvation Army community church in Grays. This is a FREE welcoming space on a Tuesday, where visitors to the church can receive a hot drink and the space to just link in with others. The Volunteer Coordinator will be attending the first Tuesday of each month between 10am – 12om, to explore the world of volunteering with those who attend. If you have any questions around volunteering or would just like to see what is out there, then please come along.
The Volunteer Coordinator has also had the pleasure of attending four forums this month. It has been very informative to discover what each forum does to support the local community and the Volunteer Coordinator is looking forward to visiting more forums in the New Year. Forums are run by volunteers from their local community. If you would like to find out more about the forum in your area or have an idea that they may be able to support with, please visit: Thurrock Forums.
The 15th of November saw the Beehive host a Volunteer Recruitment Fayre. Twelve different organisations attended in person with literature from many other voluntary organisations being available. Visitors to the event were able to ask questions and discover more about the organisations that they can volunteer for. Feedback has been received, with one visitor stating “I did not realise the full range and diversity of volunteer opportunities in Thurrock”.
If you have any questions around volunteering or would like the Volunteer Coordinator to visit your event or speak about volunteering to your team, please contact Jo on volunteercentre@thurrockcvs.org
