Throughout January, the Volunteer Centre has continued to review its services that it can offer the volunteer sector and potential volunteers. We are also pleased to say that we have a new volunteers page on the Thurrock CVS website, which is easier to navigate and has lots of information to support you. Volunteer Centre.
The Volunteer Coordinator had the pleasure of hosting a volunteer drop-in session at the Salvation Army community church and will continue to be there on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss volunteering opportunities.
Two visits to local community forums and a hub visit have also occurred, where it was great to meet people from the relevant local communities. Hub drop-in sessions will continue throughout 2025, so keep an eye out for when the Volunteer Coordinator is at your nearest hub/library.
As a guest of Reed Employment, the Volunteer Coordinator was able to discuss and explore volunteering with 17 members of the public who are seeking volunteering positions to support with increasing their skills and employment routes. All those who attended have become registered volunteers, and we wish them luck with their volunteering journey.
Two talks were also given to students at a local post-16 educational provision to support their careers week. Students were informed how volunteering can support gaining skills, increasing their networks, and enhancing social skills.
A visit to the Conservation Volunteers at Davy Down resulted in their volunteering opportunity being updated: apply now.
The Volunteer Centre is happy to discuss any volunteering opportunity, attend your educational provision, or discuss volunteering in general. Contact can be made via volunteercenter@thurrockcvs.org.
