On Thursday 19th June, Ian and Tarnya (Community Engagement Officers) for Healthwatch Thurrock took a rather unusual tour – through an inflatable bowel! Joined by Healthwatch Thurrock volunteer Betty, the team explored this larger-than-life exhibit, which was brought to Thurrock to help raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer. It sparked plenty of interesting conversations and a few surprised reactions!
Just a few days later, on Sunday 22nd June, Kim (Deputy CEO and Head of Health and Social Care for Thurrock CVS) and Tarnya were out enjoying the sunshine at the Thurrock Carers Summer Fayre in Grays Town Park. With a great turnout and a lively atmosphere, the event provided a brilliant opportunity to connect with carers and community members – and of course, enjoy a bit of summer fun!
Meanwhile, Tarnya has also been hard at work on an important project focusing on the Minor Injuries Unit at Orsett Hospital. As part of her research, she’s not only spent time in the unit itself but has also visited libraries, community hubs, and groups across Thurrock to gather feedback and insights from local residents.
If you’d like a copy of the final report when it’s ready, just drop Tarnya an email at tarnya.bennett@healthwatchthurrock.org – she’d love to hear from you!
