Sunshine and Support: Healthwatch Thurrock’s “Community in Mind” Shines!

A wonderful way to mark Mental Health Awareness Week! On Tuesday, 13th May, the Thameside Theatre foyer was full of positive energy as Healthwatch Thurrock hosted its great “Community in Mind” event. It was an opportunity for local organisations to come together, forge new connections, and share vital information about nurturing our mental wellbeing and the pathways to support available right here in Thurrock.

A real highlight was the uplifting walk-and-talk to the riverside, beautifully led by Mel, Thurrock’s Physical Activity Coordinator. Attendees then embraced a moment of shared calm with a refreshing 10-minute meditation session by the water.

Mel shared: “Walking and talking with new friends, in the sun and by the water—it really doesn’t get much better than that! I did feel calmer and more productive that afternoon too. Another bonus! Thanks to everyone who joined.”

Echoing the positive sentiment, Eden from Healthwatch Thurrock said, “It was such a lovely, sunny, and thoughtful event. We had some truly meaningful conversations, and the walk-and-talk was a wonderful way to connect. That peaceful meditation by the river was a gift, leaving me feeling grateful and uplifted for the rest of the day!

The event was a true testament to the power of community and conversation in supporting mental health.
