How Thurrock is Getting Active, Connected & Inspired!

Move More, Learn More: Find Your Active at TACC!

Find Your Active Thurrock had a fantastic time chatting with learners at the Thurrock Adult Community College Information Event on Wednesday, 4th June, at The Old Courthouse.

It was a brilliant opportunity to share what’s available locally to help students stay active—because staying active plays a powerful role in supporting learning! From boosting memory and concentration to enhancing cognitive function and reducing stress, regular physical activity can make a real difference in how we learn and feel.

We wish all the learners the best of luck with their courses—and we hope you enjoy discovering fun and energising ways to Find Your Active!

New physical activity in Tilbury started last week!

Find Your Active Thurrock are excited to share that there are new physical activity opportunities in Tilbury! The Tilbury Physical Activity Network have come together to understand local needs and gaps in delivery across Tilbury, and following this work, the creation of the new Tilbury Walking Group has now launched! The Tilbury Library and Hub are hosting a free weekly walking social group where residents can join for a gentle stroll and refreshments. Also, the network is working in collaboration with Achieve Thrive Flourish (ATF), formerly known as Achievement Through Football, who are offering two new youth clubs in Tilbury! All information about these sessions can be found on the posters.

If you work with residents in Tilbury and are interested in helping increase physical activity levels, please get in touch to join the ‘Tilbury Physical Activity Network’ – Melissa.Huggins@thurrockcvs.org

Wellbeing Wednesday

On 28th May, Find Your Active Thurrock had a stand at the monthly Wellbeing Wednesday. This is a great chance to visit a safe space to chat about local opportunities, support you or others may need, and enjoy a free cuppa! Come along to the next session on 25th June at 10.30 in The Flowers Community Group in South Ockendon and find out about local ways to get active and also get chatting to other people and services in the community too!

T100 June Meandering Monday

On 9th June, Find Your Active Thurrock loved this walking tour of Grays led by Mike Ostler. We started at Thameside Theatre and took a gentle stroll through the town centre whilst hearing historic facts which really brought the streets to life! We then finished with a tea and a chat at Grays Town Park Community Café.

These monthly led walks are completely free, open to all, and a great way to meet new people while enjoying the local area at an easy pace.

Come and join us at the July event which will be a short loop of Chafford Hundred! More info here: https://t100festival.co.uk/meandering-monday-14th-july/
